“Within about six months, I was totally free.”
— Sam Moore
To Sam Moore, being a grandfather is the greatest thing in the world.
"If I can give [my grandkids] time and teach them how to hunt and fish, to really live off the land if they need to... I'll take the time to do it."
Just one problem: Sam was convicted of a felony and couldn't legally own or use firearms.
He loves hunting and fishing, and especially hanging out with his grandkids, so Sam decided to pursue a pardon and an expungement to restore his 2nd Amendment rights.
His friend ask him why he was even bothering with a pardon and expungement. He didn't have anything to prove to anybody.
"I've got something to prove to me," Sam told him. "I was the one that messed up and if there's any way that I can straighten it up, I'm going to straighten it up." And he did.
Like many Oklahoman's, "felon" is not who Sam is anymore. He made a mistake, but he paid for it. He deserved a second chance.
Once he started working with Clean Slate, "everything just fell into place," he said. "Within about six months, I was totally free."
Now, Sam can be exactly the kind of grandfather he's meant to be.
"My oldest grandson loves fishing, hunting, and trapping. It meant a lot to me to get this pardon and expungement and be legal to take him. That's his passion. That and baseball, and I'll always be there for him to teach him everything I can."
